The Pulsar Engineering

The Pulsar is a science-blog initiative launched in 2009 which features now more than 150 in-depth articles on scientific experiments. We strive to give you as much information as possible to reproduce the experiments yourself, and most of our projects are released under open source licenses.

We explore many facets of science, including physics, chemistry, biology, engineering and even programming. With time, the blog specialized into the design of open-source optical instruments and we released multiple spin-off projects as our development kept going.

We are pleased to welcome you aboard this amazing experience and wish you a pleasant journey into science!

OpenRAMAN

OpenRAMAN is our flagship project on Raman spectroscopy. It features a low-cost alternative to commercial instruments, aiming it at universities in search for a hands-on introductory course on Raman spectroscopy but accessible as well to hobbyists who are into chemistry or spectroscopy.

Apart from Raman spectroscopy, the project also address many conventional spectroscopy techniques including absorbance spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, confocal spectroscopy, laser modes tuning etc.

If you would like a deep introduction to spectroscopy, look no further!

#DevOptical

#DevOptical is our online platform dedicated to optical design. It is a continuously evolving project which features free access to multiple web applications designed to ease-up optical design workflow.

The project currently implements apps to help selecting glasses, design optical systems from thinlenses, make lenses mounts drawings, prototype apertures and edit CNC machine code easily. The project will continue to evolve with apps dedicated to doublet and triplet achromatic athermal design, stock lenses substitution and automated baseplate design assistance.

More than that, #DevOptical is also the largest free series of posts on optical design on Internet!
